Her technique and style are unique and have been rewarded with prizes in numerous international art competitions.
She paints, by small patches, on black background (from the darkness the light was born) — sometimes covering it completely, other times creating outbursts of unexpected meanings — where the gloss or roughness of the surfaces bring a touch of realism to the chaos of abstract.
Using only basic old software (and the mouse to draw), she’s playing with volumes and lights, keeping forms in balance and hues in harmony. Everything around — shadows, sounds, perfumes, textures — can inspire her and joyful, vibrating spots of life (ready to be used) fill her insomnia when it is dark outside.
The artworks of Gabiko IoMo — invariably square — are fashioned with exuberant colours and some of them may have a militant message or a hint of irony. They are transferred on HQ canvas, completed by a black floating frame.
If you ask her what she feels when she paints, she will answer that there are no moments of deeper, fuller happiness.
